Roberto Polillo photographic exhibition
Roberto Polillo, born in Milan in 1946, son of Arrigo Polillo, acquired a passion for music and the figurative arts at an early age. Roberto was only 16 when his father bought him his first professional camera, sending him to document jazz concerts he was reporting and often organizing.
Between 1962 and 1973, Roberto Polillo photographed almost all the jazz personalities in more than 100 concerts in Italy (and also at Juan Les Pins, Montreux, Lugano ...), building a collection with hundreds of portraits taken on the scene or backstage. His photographs appeared in many newspapers and magazines of the period, especially Musica Jazz, then directed by Arrigo Polillo, which published several hundred over a period of nearly 40 years.
In 1972, Roberto Polillo graduated in Physics and began to work with computers, leaving his hobby of photography.
This exhibition shows a selection of photographs taken between 1962 and 1973 in various concerts held in Milan, Sanremo, Bergamo, Lecco, Bologna, Pescara, Lugano, Juan Les Pins and Montreux, the concerts that figure in the pages of STASERA JAZZ.
